Privacy Policy

In general, I'm not going to share the information you send me through email with any third parties. I guess the only exceptions would be if someone emailed me threats of any sort (e.g. blackmail, death threats, etc.), which luckily hasn't happened yet. I do try to respond to every message that I receive in my inbox unless it is sexually suggestive, in which case I'll just ignore it. Pretty much the worst thing that can happen to an email you send me is that it will sit in my inbox for a few years (because it takes me forever to get around to decluttering stuff).

The privacy policy that I have in place for my email also applies to the messages I receive on other platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and Venmo.

I must mention in my privacy policy that I use Google Analytics (GA) as my website's analytics tool (and if I use GA I'm required to state in my privacy policy that I'm using it). Every time someone visits my website GA is supposed to report what city and country the visitor is from, what device is being used, the screen dimensions of the device being used, what browser is being used, whether the visitor came to my website directly or from a third party website such as social media, and what pages are being visited. GA does not report to me IP addresses and does not specify the activity of specific visitors when my website is getting multiple visitors in a day.

So, in general, I cannot really tell who is visiting my website unless I notice unusual patterns in my analytics. For example, I was able to detect that my ex-boyfriend was likely visiting my website (and trying to cover up his tracks with a VPN) because I got an influx of visits from several different countries over a short period of time from the same type of device, there wasn't an uptick in the analytics on my social media platforms, and the visits were to my website directly (rather than from social media).

In the future I'm planning on adding some Google Forms to my website, and I'll likely update my privacy policy once that happens. I still need to read through the terms of use for Google Forms though, and goodness knows how long that's going to take.
